Safety Tips
Last updated: 22 June 2026
MobileUza connects you with independent local stores. Most sellers are genuine, but a few bad actors exist on any marketplace. Following these simple tips keeps you safe and helps you shop with confidence.
Remember: MobileUza never asks you to pay through the Platform — there is no online payment. You arrange payment directly with the store, usually on delivery or collection. Anyone asking you to "pay MobileUza" online is not legitimate.
Top safety tips
Inspect before you pay
Check the goods and confirm they match the listing before handing over any money.
Meet in safe public places
For pickup, choose a busy, well-lit public location during the day. Bring a friend if you can.
Never pay strangers in advance
Avoid sending money, deposits or "reservation fees" before you have seen the goods.
Verify the seller
Confirm the store's name and contact details. Be wary of deals that seem too good to be true.
Protect your information
Share only what is needed to receive your order. Never share passwords or one-time codes.
Report suspicious listings
If something feels wrong, stop and report it to us so we can investigate and protect others.
Warning signs of a scam
- Pressure to pay quickly or to pay before seeing the item.
- Requests to move the conversation or payment to an unusual channel.
- Prices far below the market with "limited time" urgency.
- A seller who refuses to meet, refuses inspection, or gives vague contact details.
- Anyone asking for your password, PIN or a one-time verification code.
How to report a problem
If you encounter a suspicious listing, a scam attempt, or a problem with an order, please contact our support team straight away — see Contact & Support — with the store name, order number (if any) and a short description. You should also report serious matters to the relevant Kenyan authorities.
If you feel unsafe during a meet-up or delivery, leave and prioritise your safety. No purchase is worth your wellbeing.
